Europe
While I saw life in Europe, I didn’t really work there until the age of 44 when I decided to return for the benefit of my children. Although I truly loved my expatriate life, I felt Dutch universities were hard to beat from a price/benefit point of view. I wanted to offer my children the best and this implied moving back to the Netherlands. I have to be honest, the reception was less than enthusiastic: I believed my vast experience would be embraced by potential employers but found just the opposite: there was a general fear that I might not feel at ease in Holland.
Meanwhile, after helping to grow a company from € 2.000.000 to € 75.000.000, this fear has fully disappeared; I have proven to be just as successful in Europe as in the rest of the world.
